Do we live in the same universe? Top hotels in Tokyo indeed go up that high, but there are plenty of 5* options there for 150–250 USD, unless you pick very high season like sakura time: Tokyo Marriott, Sheraton Miyako, Sheraton Grand Tokyo Bay, Sheraton Yokohama.
In Osaka and Kobe I personally stayed at SPG properties for about 100 USD/night and had a reservation at amazing Marriott Miyako for around 250 USD in high season (which I had to cancel, but anyway). Even Osaka St Regis and Prince Sakura Tokyo are bookable for under 300 USD occasionally.
Same true for Hong Kong, you easily get 5* hotel for 200–300 USD.
Cannot see how you get x3 here, unless you carefully pick specific hotels.
