The average monthly wage in Thailand as of September, 2018 was 14,075.55 baht, USD $440.15. My favorite hotel in Bangkok is SGS, at which standard rooms can usually be had in the THB 6,000++ range per night. THB 6,000++ = THB 7,062 = USD $220.74.
So, as a percentage of median (the only data I have is for
average salary, which is probably what you meant, anyway) salary, one night at SGS is about 15 days' wages. However, as
catocony pointed out upthread, there aren't a lot of average Thais staying at 5* properties here.
