The dangers of using humour...the character this actor is best known for, and is also playing in the BA video, is a pathetic and cringeworthy individual subject to frequent humiliation. Of course, if you don't know that (and the show is a bit niche, so a lot of people wouldn't, even in the UK), I can see how it could come across otherwise.
