RTW with ff miles? Or partly funded with ff miles?
AA & AS have a lot of common ff partners, with Oneworld airlines (AA, BA AY, CX, QF, JL, LA)
AS has partners that AA does not, like KE & SQ & EK. AA has EY and others.
My opinion (without much of a basis) is oneworld awards are harder to get than with other alliances.
AS ff miles required for awards are often lower than AA.
But the AA award chart is very prescriptive on routes/airlines.

Depending on the ff miles you/family have with AA, AS & other? ffp's I would build the balance in AS, due to the different ff partners
