I also had a problem with the female connector (the one on the cord) on the DC power cord. I had the habit of storing the unit in its carry pouch with the cords still coonnected. This over time, opened the gap of the pin sockets and made for a off/on connection. Rather than using a hammer, I put the connector between the desk and its drawer, and slammed the draw shut! This flattened the pins and had no further trouble
BTW I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop which is rated at 20 volts @ 3.5 amps. or 70 watts. Igo 65 watt unit works just fine.
