I was on UA879 (1005 LHR-IAH) on Christmas Day and was looking forward to an enjoyably relaxed five course meal somewhere over the Altantic. Instead the crew decided dinner should be served as early as possible and as fast as possibe.

The warm nuts weren't even finished before starter and appetiser was brought out. Main course followed the moment starters were finished, and less than a minute after finishing main course, I was being asked what I wanted for desert. Had I not put my foot down at that point and insisted that I at least had chance for the food to go down, the entire service would have been competed by 11.45,

Considering that most of the 25 or so customers in Polaris, would have been in the lounge enjoying breakfast until 9am, it seems totally ridiculous to have served dinner at 11am and in such a rushed manner.

Before, I go to UA, however, I was wondering if there is an official policy or was this the crew just wanting to get it over so they could do their own thing.

(and yes, I do know about executive dinning, but could not have envisioned that the crew had any intention of serving dinner so early until it was too late to do anything and the mains were already being cooked)
This is pretty typical but you can have them hold your "dinner".
