This is why Marriott's Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio and even Luxury Collection brands can be so inconsistent.

There are some genuinely great properties. The Majestic, Autograph Collection in Kuala Lumpur is a good example. It's probably a better fit as a Luxury Collection property. The Mayflower, Autograph Collection in Washington is nice but it also a weird property, partly because it was previously a Renaissance. It's also a huge, full-service hotel, which isn't necessarily what you think of when you think Autograph Collection. Meanwhile, there are other properties that fall way short in service and even food-and-beverage.

When I think of independent, boutique hotels, my basic requirements and expectations beyond thoughtful design and style is a good bar and -- if there is food -- high quality food.

I would put the Morrison House, Autograph Collection; Sortis Hotel, Spa & Casino, Autograph Collection; and The Glasshouse, Autograph Collection in the category of disappointing food-and-beverage options. (In the case of the Sortis, it's another weird property for Autograph.)

It sounds as if the Bankside, Autograph Collection may fall into the category of not having food-and-beverage to match the otherwise good visual and hard products.
