Wow! I thought I'd been through this with a fine toothed comb and I have been relying on 8.3 in my discussions, but I have to admit that it never even occurred to me that "Membership Year" could mean anything other than what we all (I assume) think of as our membership year, i.e. the tier point collection year. In fact when you click on the little "i" next to your Card Expiry Date you get a pop-up saying "Your card expires one month after your membership year ends", which clearly provides a definition of membership year that contradicts the one in the terms and conditions. Pretty crafty I think. I mean I'm not complaining about the rule, but it seems as though they go out of their way to mislead you about how it actually works, perhaps in the hope that people will not play it to best advantage.
After several phone calls I keep being assured that I will indeed get my wife's status extended but it never actually happens. If it doesn't happen I'm going to be really grumpy as she only had one short haul flight in that seven weeks of late 2017 and could easily have slummed it in the GC lounge, but I was so convinced I had it sussed!
