Average seaside hotel
Location The hotel is located at the end of the boulevard along the coast. The hotel has it's own beach and access to the sea. In front of the hotel are a couple of shops and restaurants and it is about 10 mins by car to the old town of Limassol. Walking along the boulevard to the old city is about 30 mins or more. Check In I arrived in the late afternoon and there was no one so I was helped immediately. As an elite member, I was upgraded to a sea view room. I was also asked about my welcome amenity option which I chose the welcome drink. Strangely enough, the hotel has the understanding that the welcome drink is only for the member and the number of guests in the room - which is strange as all previous IHG hotels that I've stayed in, the selection is always for the both guests in the same room. Anyway, an akward situation. Anyway I asked for a room away from the elevators and was given a room in what is the Quiet section - which means no disturbance from the hotel staff between 9pm -10 am (including housekeeping). Room The room was ok, slightly on the smaller side - it might be a squeeze if you have lots of luggage with you. Since the hotel itself is already dated, the rooms showed this with furnishing from the 90's. They were still functional and showed limited wear and tear. Since the room was in the special Quiet area, the room came with the famous Crowne Plaza Sleep Enhancing items to enhance a good night sleep. The bed was comfortable. The room had a balcony which looked out towards the beach and the Mediterrenean sea. Outside noise was minimal with the balcony door closed. The room temperature control unit will be turned off automatically if you have the balcony door open (logical).Other than, both internet speed and room temperature control was good.Bath room was definitely on the smaller side. They had both wall mounted refillable toiletries and some travel size bottle of amenities from what seems to be a famous local brand. Water pressure and temperature was good. The room was equipped with a minibar and tea/coffee making facilities with a large bottle of water (not sure if it is replaced daily since I stayed only 1 night). Dining I did not really partake in any full dining, but just a visit to the bar. The drinks were reasonably priced and the selection was good. The drinks did come with a nice small platter of different items - olive, almonds and chips. The menu selection of finger food was quite limited. Other than that service was excellent from the associates. (It's interesting that quite a number of them speak with the British accent) Service All the staff members that worked there were very friendly and helpful. This seems to be something common in all the hotels that I've visited on the island. (the same can't be said for those working at the different historical sites - which is strange). Overall All in all, a good stay although I guess during the peak season the hotel's going rate will be above that of what is for me a good value due to the state of the hotel. Even during low season, the asking rate was on the higher side, which I guess is due to the location next to the beach. What is nice about the property is the complimentary parking for guests (which should be a must in my opinion) and the excellent service from the staff at all levels.
