The first thing to do once these things occur is to send off a webform (take a screen shot) or email. Both are time-stamped.

The real mess is not whether there is a $60 charge but if someone uses the vehicle and causes an injury to a third-party.

You may dig yourself out sooner or later, but it will take a lot of time, effort, and money.
