How much was the ticket ( I assume r/t) - assuming that SIN-BKK was in 1st class, then pretty much 75% of the one way journey cost should be reimbursed ( minus taxes )
That there may have been 1st class available on other routes doesn't seem to matter under EC261 - there seems to be no obligation to offer such a rerouting vs downgrading
If you arrived > 2 hours after scheduled arrival time into Bangkok, may also be entitled to EUR600 compensation for the delay ( depending on reason of cancellation )
What expenses were incurred that have been refused ?
write back to BA stating that it is liable for reimbursement , how much is due and and give 7 days to pay or that you will initiate legal action
Ticket was about £1500 total pp (like I say, great value for J purchase AMS-LHR-SIN-BKK-HKG-LHR-AMS). Thus the LHR-SIN leg (F using GUF), at 75% value, won't be a huge sum. But even if it's £100pp, I'm still due it.
Expenses were very simple: taxi from AMS to the hotel (that BA provided) and then 2x receipts for tea/beer/dinner. About £40. Not much. Totally ignored in my claim, not even addressed!
Late arrival won't apply as we ended up in BKK about 4hrs earlier than planned. That was one upside of it all I s'pose.
SIN hotel I'll try and get reimbursement from travel insurance. Separate issue there, which I've not mentioned to BA as it's not liable.
