I've not been thanked by FAs for being a Silver while sitting in C+, but I will say that in my limited experience, I have been happy with C+ and F upgrades as a Silver. As a Silver, I have had C+ with an empty middle seat a few times, which is as good as first and offers drinks, the snack basket, space, etc.
