It not purely UA issue, it is an issue with *A (and maybe other alliances). There are reports of similar issues with other *A programs and particularly with certain operating carriers. I have purchased dozens of award tickets with a half dozens or so carriers and have never had it happen -- but it has happened to others, such as yourself
Ok, but thanks anyway. Good to get some clarification on this.
On hold now to talk to a UA Agent. Not exactly a smooth procedure. There must be some way to streamline this and improve the experience.
