Generally speaking steerage don't get catered meals let alone hot ones on domestic flights to the various states of the US which includes the state of Hawaii and Alaska. Hence, the point I was making - if you're on a flight for 5 hours sans food, then wait at YVR for another 2 1/2 hours, then board another flight to HNL which lasts 5 hours, you could go 12 1/2 hours without food. I don't know about everyone else on the forums, but I suspect I'd feel a bit peckish after that.

There was lots of time for someone to buy food in YVR or even buy food on the aircraft during the flight. Getting food is not the issue, who should pay for it is. AC should have given $15 to $20 vouchers instead of the $10 voucher. Aircraft meals just don't show up. They have to be ordered in advance.
