DFW and the surrounding area experienced a weather meltdown. When this occurs at an airline’s hub(s), IROPS and cancelations can affect other flights dependent on aircraft originating or flying through that hub.

AA DFW, Texas Area Storm, turbulence, injuries 26-27 Dec 2018

Unfortunately, weather caused IROPS generally will not garner any kind of compensation.
