I think it's more the luck of which night auditor you get. The system is pretty dumb and does simple date math, take the date of check out and subtract the date of check in provides the number of nights for the stay.. This works just fine for 95%? of the stays. Those that check in late (after midnight) or check out early (before midnight) will likely lose a night. However, if the night auditor is on the ball, they will adjust the date so you get full credit. The lazy ones won't touch a thing and they have to spend time trying to fix it after the fact, or it will be someone else's problem.

As we used to say at work: Never enough time to do it right, always enough time to do it twice.
