If anything those with "emotional support animals" should be at the very end. If I had my way, they would be given 3 minutes to run from one end of the terminal to the gate to catch their flight. If they can't get there with Sparky in the allotted time, tough luck! As for parents with small children, they should probably pre-board, they already have enough stress as is, the last thing they should worry about is moving through a tight cabin with their kids. As much as I don't enjoy small kids crying on airplanes, it all goes away once I put on my QC headset.
