2018 Update.

I've been staying at this property off and on since my first post 8 years ago. I mostly avoid the CY in favor of the full-service Marriotts in Park Ridge and Saddle Brook for the free breakfast and have also been staying at Hyatt and IHG properties in the area (also with free breakfast). In all my stays, I've never been able to get upgraded into the suite (or any other room upgrade for that point). The best I am able to do is get a room on higher floor.

My most recent stay was New Year's Eve for one night. Despite my comments in the reservation not to be placed in a room facing Route 17, I was given one on the fourth (top) floor. I spent about 30 seconds in it before I determined the road noise was going to be a problem and called down ask asked to be moved. To their credit, they quickly moved me to a room on the other side of the hallway and sent up someone to give me the keys. Odd-numbered rooms = facing Route 17. Even-numbered rooms = facing the Garden State Parkway. Lower-numbered rooms = ones furthest away from highways and Higher-numbered rooms = ones closest to the highways.

The rooms were refreshed a few years ago and while still in general good shape, the toilet in our room had leaky seals, so it ran every few minutes; I closed the door to the bathroom and it helped a bit. Unlike a lot of CY, the sink is inside the bathroom and not in the adjacent hallway. This makes the bathroom quite large and spacious, which is a plus.

Overall, despite the convenience of the location, CY as a brand doesn't have much to offer elite members ($10 food and beverage credit or 500 points for Plats and above) and this property really doesn't work for me compared to the numerous other options in the area.
