My wife and I are going for a quick anniversary weekend trip in February for 3 nights to Grand Cayman. The Ritz has prices in the $1000s to $2000s per nights on many nights and the Westin in the 700s to 800s. We will stay two nights and then one night at the Kimpton with my IHG free night. I have my two Ritz 60,000/free night certificates to use up and I was wondering if these two hotels are worth it and a good redemption value since there is a $85 and $70 "resort fee" at these hotels respectively.

Secondly, is is possible to have the resort fees waived-has any one had success in doing so? I really hate resort fees as they often are not transparent, and less so on the Westin site. According to this site made by a lawyer, it's possible by disputing the fees on your credit card. It's ridiculous that they advertise free things such as free wifi for all Platinum members, and then charge the resort fee saying that it is partially a charge for wifi...
