Ah, good catch @brunos , thanks! I actually wasn't sure what DBC meant. I also simply assumed that the flight had been cancelled, since we are still nearly 10 days prior to the flight and I had not imagined that it could already be overbooked (but I just checked ExpertFlyer and it shows 0 in every single fare): That's kinda crazy but I guess loads are high on that day.

Right, that's what I am going to do, thanks a lot for the advice.
Despite the inconvenience, I have to give Air France credit for being proactive about compensation, when usually one has to harrass airlines to get anything...
