I've noticed UA offers fairly low cost flights from Canada to Asia, including multi-city itineraries. Often cheaper than mainland Chinese carriers. I would suggest selecting the multi city option and then plugging in a few cities you're interested in and see what you come up with. Keep in mind this will involve a stop in the US on the way there and on the way back.
