From AA's perspective, I don't see how it would benefit them, in any way. For instance: (1) Alaska lounge allows for access to many Admiral's club, but, specifically not SFO; (2) for transpac flyers, AS miles are infinitely superior to AA's, and no one would ever bother with crediting AA; (3) it would render any kind of AA status irrelevant with access to OW via AS; and, (4) with AS, CX can use them on lots of feeder routes in the west, especially the much coveted LAX markets.

Again, this is pure speculation, but I don't see how it's beneficial for AA, in any way, for AS to join OW.

PS - this is from the perspective of a west coast flyer who couldn't care less about midwest/eatern hubs
