Does your version of Google Maps not tell you "turn right in 2 miles, turn right in 1 mile, turn right in 500 feet" and the first notice you have is "turn right" when you're in the middle of the intersection?
That's not a version of Google Maps I've experienced.

Google maps is also horrible at telling you what lane to be in. If there are 2 left turn lanes, it'll say both are fine. But then you have to make an immediate right after.
I also checked this today. "Turn left in 1000 feet from the second lane from the left", or something similar, was what I always was told when setting up for a subsequent turn. This was noted above also.
Have you updated your phone recently? Are you running some unique version of software that no one else is?
