Ok, call me stupid, but I had been an active traveler/point collector for many years. A few years ago, my job changed and I stopped traveling. I had a nice bounty of hotel/airline points saved up which I have been using on an as needed basis over the years...
I had around 60k IHG points in my account and was planning to use them at some point. I hadn't logged into my account for a few years, but recently logged in and found out that the balance was 0. I tried talking to the agents (Philippine call center), but all they could say is that "expired points can not be reinstated"
When I signed up for the account it was supposed to be "Points never expire"... apparently (i read on the web 30 minutes ago) in 2015 that changed. I have searched my emails and I don't have any notification of that change. I also have no notification that my points will expire in 3 months (as the agents said I should have)...
Ok, I'm stupid for not logging in for such a long time, but I had no activity and I was under the impression that they never expire, so no need to check on them...
Anyone else had this issue/managed to get the points back?
Feeling a little bit bummed at the moment as it's 6 nights on a Pointbreaks that I wanted to book...

o no chance whatsoever for reinstatement.
o 60k is negligble, can buy for usd300 at usd5/1k , so whilst annoying is luckily a minimal loss to you.
o Announced a year in advance in 2014, points started expiring circa March/April 2015. For remainder of 2015 IHG allowed restoration
o Since 2016 no restorations allowed/possible no matter who you speak or escalate to
o points don't expire whilst you have status, ie 10nights gives you gold that year and next year, plus points don't expire for 12months after i)lose elite status ii)last stat if no status
o t+c's say you agree to keep self upto date with t+c's
