The codes used in the fare rules also don’t cross over to the codes of fare buckets. I’ve just done a dummy PE booking and it shows the fare bucket as K but the fare conditions code starts with U. As far as I’m aware VS does not do instant upgrades though many US airlines do so the use of UG in yiur fare rules is likely to be a coincidence.
Thanks for your reply. Shame that K isn't upgradeable. The Ts and Cs on this page I found said K was included: https://www.virginatlantic.com/gb/en...-upgrades.html

Interestingly the same fare is bookable through the DL website on a codeshare. It says on the page you shared that upgrades are possible on "DL paper". Booking code on DL website in G.. Suspect this maps to K on VS though?

Edit: Original plan was actually to book PE outbound and Y return for £750 and upgrade outbound to UC and return to PE for total of 67,000 miles (for 2). Problem is that is a K outbound fare. Would have been £950 for H outbound and X return.

I found a much better way to deal with this situation: Book X outbound and K return for £700 then do double upgrade on outbound for 71,000 miles to UC.
