Row 1 is blocked for Golds, so may not actually be taken. Personally Inprefer to stay on the same side of the aircraft. Means you are served by the same cabin crew member so easy to arrange things as a group rather than individually. Creating a little triangle of seats also means that you can get easy access to each other whereas in the middle pair you don’t!
