It is a very busy area including some nice pedestrian walking street and lots of street cafe. In the winter time not as much going on in the streets compared to summer.

having said that, keep your guard up. Lots of pick pockets and I personally witnessed two cases hands into backpack that week I was there. They work in teams or two or more. But it happens not just in Spain, happens in Italy, happens in France, so as long as you are vigilant, should be fine. Enjoy.
