Hi all, posting this here in the hope someone can help.

A family friend has booked a ticket Heathrow to Sydney via Chongqing (CKG) (don't ask why!!!). Supposedly all booked on the same ticket is LHR - CKG on Tianjin Airlines, followed some 8 hours later by CKG - SYD on Sichuan Airlines.

As I have zero experience or knowledge on either the airlines or CKG airport, I have a couple of question. Can anyone confirm if her baggage can be checked through all the way from LHR to SYD, or will she need to retrieve the bags in CKG & check them in again? If so, will she need a visa to enter China? Also, does anyone have any views or comments on the transfer process at CKG?
