Unlikely to be the case, but there is an open slot after AA's cancellation of the route between Beijing and Chicago. While still under the rights of AA, the carrier cannot leave it unfilled forever.
UA has already applied for one of the AA Tier 1 slots (Delta wants the other for MSP-PVG), which it says would be used on EWR-PVG #2 starting in June 2020. I expect AA to do the absolute bare minimum flying (with smallest possible equipment, 788) to retain the slot after it applies for, and likely receives, a temporary dormancy waiver.
