Funny this thread popped up after my stay at the Westin Grand this week. I did receive an upgrade to a corner suite, but the room had two cleanliness issues. An energy bar wrapper was left next to the bed from a previous guest, and the mouth wash was opened and half used (and subsequently never replaced after I threw it out on the first morning). Compensation offered: 2,500 points or $50 off. That is not acceptable in my book, and I will not be returning. As mentioned, the elevators are an issue in the morning. Expect to stop on five floors if you are starting from the top half of the hotel.
The Delta Suites downtown was nice for a one night stay. They had a small dessert plate and Pellegrino in my room waiting for me as LTPPE. Room was well appointed, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Breakfast was offered in the restaurant, but I took points instead to skip it.
I'll be trying the Metropolitan next week.
