Yeah but it’s worse for some others. Consider the Keisei Skyliner. It’s all reserved-only, but you can get on with just a Suica card, except once you’re onboard you WILL have to pay cash - cash! not even Suica - to get a seat. It’s just really not obvious for foreigners in some cases. If you buy from an agent it’s fine, but if you buy from a machine then you once again need to be careful to click the button for “BOTH” the segment and the uplift.
