I had never understood why BA do not make use of the AA Admirals lounge at GIG and when last there asked the question at check-in to be told AA charge a very high fee per passenger. Seems stange behaviour from a OW partner.
And just to add to this, when flying out of GIG a few weeks ago (when that change was in effect) I just went to the AAdmirals Club anyway rather than going to the GOL lounge, where there were no issues gaining access when flying BA (we were in CW plus I am OWE, but travel class is sufficient for access anyway)
It's a shame, I really liked the Plaza Premium lounge in GIG, even if the food and beverage offering was slightly basic. Admirals Club was perfectly acceptable, but not worth arriving early for I would say.
