I do not know the rules in Cancun but when I would mileage run to Ascension, Paraguay I'd book the immediate turnaround which was only 90 minutes. On 3 separate occasions, I was escorted to a seated clean area after approaching the first immigration officer and showing my inbound and outbound boarding passes. Sat until 30 minutes before takeoff then was cleared with no visa fee ($75 or $100) each time. Relating this story because I bought the AA HKG-CUN I Class deal and plan a quick turnaround in Cancun the same way. Have already linked PNRs with AA and hope for the best.
