Thanks MSPeconomist for that summary.
Do you know if the Residences have access to the room service options of the main resort? Any idea about the quality of amenities in a Residence vs the Canyon Suite accommodation? How long is this walk or drive up to the main resort buildings?
I was told that the Residences each have their own (heated) plunge pool. Do you or anyone else know if that is true?

They had been limited SPG participation, but I don't know the post-merger status.
Canyon Suites are in a separate hotel building that seems to be quality construction and with tasteful finishes. Even standard rooms are large, with the base room size over 500 sq ft IIRC. There's a separate (for Canyon Suites guests only) attractive pool with some cabanas and IIRC a pool bar. There's also at least one hot tub with amazing views that seems very private. One suite has a huge outdoor deck and one has a fire pit and then there are a bunch of more standard one bedroom suites that are reasonably large. Room service food seems to come from the main Phoenician' kitchens. Canyon Suites has an underground garage and (its own) valet parking (only, no self parking). It's genuinely luxury but some people might consider it's classic style to be dated.
The Phoenician itself is a large modern hotel that appears to have cookie-shutter identical rooms, with better views generally being higher category. There are also a bunch of two-story or so outbuildings below the pools and on the edge of the golf course that seem to be longer term family suites or time share condos that IMO are not at all desirable; they might be called villas, but they are not villas in any luxury hotel sense. The huge iconic pool is stunning but all that water can be cold. There's a cactus garden (tours available), some shops, a couple restaurants and bars, etc. This part of the resort is not luxury IMO despite its designation as LC.
