Lufthansa Light ticket with United segments showing as Basic Economy
I just purchased a ticket from Lufthansa with the following routing: MUC-FRA-LAX-OGG, HNL-SFO-MUC. The flights MUC-FRA-LAX is LH operated, and LAX-OGG is UA operated. All of those flights are T class. HNL-SFO is UA operated, and SFO-MUC is LH operated. Those flights are both W class.
When I pull up the reservation on United.com, it lists every segment as Basic Economy. However, it lets me choose a seat (for a fee) on the West Coast to Hawaii and Hawaii to West Coast segments, but no Economy Plus. It also says that an complimentary Premier upgrade has been requested for HNL-SFO (which I thought was not allowed on BE?). I am Premier Gold.
I wasn't aware Basic Economy was even available on West Coast to Hawaii routes. What exactly do I have here?
Additionally, it lists the first bag as not being free for the trip to Hawaii, and the first bag as free for the trip back to Germany. Is that correct? Will LH charge me in SFO?
