Unless someone is seriously embedded in Capital One's transfer partners, I don't see why one would try to get under 4/24 just to get a C.O card when they can get one from Chase instead - especially when their other ones offer a whooping 1.5% cash back, 1.25 "miles" per dollar, and 1.25% cash back if you pay on time that month.

Perhaps don't knock C.O. down so quickly. With their new list of transfer partners, their Venture card pretty much gets you 1.5 [real] miles p/dollar or even 7.5 [real] miles p/dollar on hotels.com purchases. Even not being embedded with those transfer partners, I can think of some pretty nice redemptions with Aeroplan for example or even allow you to combine with an MR transfer to get to the award you need. I'd say that if you're strategic, I can see people finding good value in some of these C.O. cards (that's without even talking about the 75K bonus they are currently running). For the record, I don't have C.O. cards...but consider me tempted (even more so after writing this post
)
