I take it, for example, you've never experienced one of the properties that places a dollar cap that is insufficient to cover the stated breakfast benefit. Hyatt Union Square is a great example of this ($25 cap), and Andaz 5th has gone in and out of that category (they keep changing their rules). Many have experienced this at PHNY (including me) where "overage" is charged despite ordering no more than the rule allows (entree, juice, coffee, tax, gratuity).
You're not the first around here to assume that very limited experience is universal, and to denigrate the reports of those who describe contrary experiences.

Stopped staying at Union Square after the the original restaurant closed (The 4th) it was really exceptional for breakfast lunch or dinner
