I think Citi has added some filter/screen to their renewal process, and
they are closing cards under some circumstances without much notification to customers, when the cards expire.
One gets a terse letter maybe 10 days before expiry. It happened to P2 twice during the fall.
Fixing the underlying issue, causing this cancellations, was painful.
And really not much consideration nor apology from Citi for all the efforts wasted on this.
That letter might have been some kind of soft notice that one was being considered for closure, but they decided to keep the account open.
