The only upside to less-fantastic meat is that it encourages me to eat a more varied diet in Argentine restaurants. In days gone by, if I was in-country for a week or less, I rarely ate anything other than steak. It was like a fear that I'd miss the best steak dinner of my life.

Now I tend to eat different things. Pasta in Argentina can be quite good, although it often feels "expensive" (not much cheaper than beef) and it ranges in quality from fantastic to meh.
You will never get to experience a proper Argentine asado sitting in a restaurant.
