The only ones that will be affordable/easy/not a lot of back tracking - Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei. All depends on if you have an airline or alliance you prefer to use..

Or many people fly into Japan, out of Korea. Then take a cheap one way flight as there are cheap and good quality LCCs (Korean LCC is similar in service to US domestic full service airline).
