I understand the frustration of having to show your BP so many times in such a short distance, but let's look at it from a different angle. The private employee downstairs checks your BP & ID, and sends you upstairs to the CP. The next private employee checks your BP & ID and directs you to the selectee lane. The TSA screener @ the WTMD checks your BP (but looks at your connecting BP instead), and waves you thru. You then procede to the Varsity Grill for a quick bite & brew. While watching Sportscenter, you hear your name being called for an immediate boarding. You run to your gate, and the agent says "Sorry, but you're a selectee, and have not been screened." So you get to go back to the CP, get to go thru the whole shabang, and miss your flight to boot. All because that "extra" person that you speak of was not there to insure you were screened, and your BP stamped to prove it.
You know, if anyone can't figure out how to do this with one less person.. Well, all I can say is that I'm glad that this sort of foolish thought only blossoms in government. It wouldn't survive for more than a second in the private sector.
