Not familiar with the AA regs of late, but do you have to have the AA FF number in the booking to get the benefits of free bags etc or can you just show it at check in?
hi dddc,
Yes, you have to have the AA FF number on the booking to get the benefits - otherwise, AA wouldn't know you're entitled to them (if you're an elite, or if you have a credit card that includes the priority boarding and checked bag). You can't really show it at check-in, although, I suppose one could ask to update the frequent flyer number on the ticket. But I wouldn't want to chance it, and I've read a few threads where there may have been some code changes on the AA side to prevent that, so just trying to find a way to update in advance of traveling. So sounds like easier to leave blank somehow (if I go about with the Friends and Family list route), or use the Finnair site to switch the FF number per Cathay1101's post.

Thanks CX1101, appreciate the data point with the Finnair website. I don't have any upcoming tickets to test this out, but this is helpful. I'll put it to the test someday!
