Agree with others about the noise cancelling headphones and you can buy a nice set of Bose at Costco for $300 and any frequent flyer should have a pair. If you use a pair of foam earplugs they work great with them. I haven't tried this yet, but a friend of mine has an app for his iPhone that plays noise cancelling sounds and he uses that with his bose head[hone and says he sleeps greats on long flights.
