Following up -- ended up staying at the LV Marriott.
It was pretty solid and in line with what others have reported in the thread. Location was easy enough to get to/from the Strip and was a pretty easy walk down to the big Walgreens to stock up on a couple of things for my fridge.
Only caveat is calling the rooms a suite is generous by Las Vegas standards IMO. When I think Las Vegas suite I think ridiculously oversized suite like you get on the Strip. This was closer to a typical city Marriott junior suite though still was quite nice and had a substantial amount of space.
Would stay at the LV Marriott again but honestly I wish the Residence Inn Hughes Center was a Courtyard. Hughes Center is such a solid off-strip area with a couple of restaurants (including Chipotle) but the fact that RI only earns 5 points per dollar instead of 10 makes RIs unattractive to me in most circumstances.
