Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this has been answered elsewhere but I haven't seen a post with my exact situation - would really appreciate it if anyone could share their experiences or insight on being able to get an AAdvantage number associated with a BA Exec Club award ticket. Also, curious if anyone can comment on if it makes sense to break up a Household account since I've run into problems trying to transfer Iberia Avios back to BA Exec Club (appears transfers only work from BA to Iberia), whereas if I break up the Household account, the Avios can transfer both ways BA->IB and IB->BA.
- I'm AA PLT/OW Sapphire, have a Household account with 3 other members; the other 3 do not have any AA status or OW
- I read on other threads about new processes in place that AA won't allow one to remove the BA Exec Club number associated with BA Exec Club issued tickets (and attach one's AAdvantage number) by AA Customer Service Reps
- I would like to use my BA Avios to book reward travel on AA (whether domestic US travel, or even international) to avoid the fuel surcharges imposed by BA
- I'd like to get perks associated with my AA PLT/OW Sapphire status (free checked bags, assigned seats, etc.) or for my household members, they have respective AA credit cards so they'd get a free checked bag if they get their AAdvantage number on their reservation
- if I book on the BA website, our BA Exec Club numbers get associated with the reservation and from what I've read, AA Cust Svc reps are trained not to allow that to happen (take off the BA number and associate the AAdvantage number on the reservation) (is this true based on anyone's experience?)
So was hoping anyone could share their experiences with:
1) using the Friends and Family list (add ourselves onto that list with no frequent flyer number), so that we can attach the AAdvantage number later (does this work or would this be against the rules somehow?)
2) using the Finnair website to update the reservation: enter the PNR, take off the BA Exec Club number, then attach the AA number (I read that this tip might no longer work?)
3) breaking up their Household account in case it assists with booking award travel without the BA number on it, as well as the ability to transfer BA->IB and IB->BA. we all have some Iberias Avios that we earned from a Vueling flight this past summer, would like to move them back to BA where the bigger balance is.
Thanks in advance for any insight you might be able to share!
