Documented numerous times every year here for the past several. Also on Reddit I think. Search for details.
In all cases, the points come early and are irreversible, even if you fix the mistake.
Examples:
1. Chase drops an extra unexpected statement on you. This is (was?) reasonably common in the first couple months of cardholdership.
2. Your card number gets stolen and used.
3. A merchant accidentally runs your card twice and reverses one charge.
4. Computer glitch. You MIGHT be able to get this reversed.
5. Human error. You miscalculate, you think that a refund will cancel out the spend (it doesn’t), use the wrong card by mistake, your spouse mistakenly uses it...
Probably others. These stand out.
CP is so valuable, I would never use the card until 1/1/19.
