This specific direct cross-border transportation service should cost no more than $150 OW. Regarding the time saving, it really depends. If you are ineligible for automated/e-channel immigration for both HK and Mainland, i.e. you have to see an officer to have things done, then my advice is definitely direct transportation.
However, if you are eligible then there is not much of a difference in terms of time compared to taxi both ways. Remember, you don't have to take bus or subway. My normal route is: Anywhere in HK -- Taxi -- Lok Ma Chau -- Clear both immigrations/customs -- Taxi -- Anywhere in Shenzhen.
