Surprised you don't find baggage claim abysmal at times at SFO. I will often stop in UC to use restroom and even grab a quick cocktail at times just so I don't have to wait downstairs. It has gotten a bit better as or late but late evening flights or holidays and you will feel like you are collecting bags in a third world country. To be fair I often travel with odd size baggage so I have to get it from the special luggage area and that is always last.
I don't check a bag on a normal flight, although in this case I had started the day in SYD and flown three segments to MSP, so I wanted a nice not-plane-water coffee
and I had a bag to wait for.
I am not a UC member, so my Club time is limited to overseas or p.s. travel. It doesn't really bother me much since they're pretty disappointing compared to basically any other lounge, and the whole reason I'm loyal to United is so I can fly nonstop anyway
