Under the new system Qantas punishes FF members for flying with Oneworld partners on routes serviced by Qantas by cutting their SC/QP earn rate compared with a QF fare for the same route. I wonder whether you're confusing "logical" and "simple".
The rationale for the QF system isn't hard to work out.
But the system is therefore more complicated than that operated by some other airlines. The need for a calculator illustrates that well; calculators are handy for checking what on some other airlines you could
quite quickly look up, but on QF it's pretty hard to work out your earn by any means other than the calculator.
