Now the latter just earns 75 SC.

MIA-JFK in Business on AA*AA earns 60 SC, while another Business Class flight of more than twice the distance JFK-LAX on AA*AA earns just 50 SC.

Simpler? No! Fairer? - Only for QFF, not PAX.
Again, I don't think it's complicated. Under the new system Qantas punishes FF members for flying with Oneworld partners on routes serviced by Qantas by cutting their SC/QP earn rate compared with a QF fare for the same route. If you're the kind of person who wants to know the status earn for flights before booking them Qantas has a calculator for that: https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/do/dyn...alPointsEarned
